The PADI Scuba Diver Course covers about two-thirds of the content from the PADI Open Water Diver Course.
Since the required training time is also one day shorter, this course is ideal for those who have limited time off or wish to obtain a diving certification during their travels. Upon completion, you will be able to safely enjoy diving under the supervision of a PADI Instructor.
Think of it like a learner’s permit for driving.
The key differences between Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver are:
Course Duration
- Scuba Diver Course: eLearning + 2 days of in-water training
- Open Water Diver Course: eLearning + 3 days of in-water training
Diving Conditions
- Scuba Divers must always dive with a PADI Instructor or professional guide.
- Open Water Divers can dive freely with a certified buddy.
Maximum Depth Limit
- Scuba Divers can dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet).
